Hotels and Accommodation

Albergue Cortes de la Frontera

OVERVIEW

At first glance, You will be amazed to see that anything actually exists on this massive estate of cork forests and dense foliage - the resort is truly camoflauged in its natural setting. As a Canadian, I immediately felt at home in these familiar, remote surroundings! The Albergue (meaning residential center), is situated on a gentle slope 4km above the radiant village of Cortes de la Frontera (one of the fiercest bull fighting regions in Spain!). The layout of this complex is second to none. It looks and feels like a true resort with charismatic stone cottages and rustic charm. Each cabin (from 2 - 6) people, contains complete bathrooms / showers, private outdoor terraces and even kitchen facilities. From just about every doorway you can view forest surroundings containing birdlife, wildflowers and if you are lucky, grazing deer and other species.

Situated in "Los Alcornocales National Park" - protected nature reserve, you will find these surroundings to be a pleasant change even from the warm villages your cycle tours or treks have accomodated you in so far. Food and beverage is cafeteria style in the large stone mess hall and you will likely retire to the cozy lounge with wood burning fireplaces to reflect on the day's adventures. During the warmer months, you can splash about in the pool or just lounge around under a shaded oak - the choice is yours.

From rudimentary villages and lovely hotels to remote, forest canopied stone cottages, The Adventure Bug provides the kind of diversity you'd expect from an Adventure excursion! Try us out…
